Vein Treatment results at Skin&Co, Mississauga

Some leg veins are a cosmetic matter and some are a circulatory one. Telling them apart is the first thing that should happen.

Facial and leg vein treatment in Mississauga

Vascular lasers close small visible veins by heating the vessel until it collapses and is absorbed by the body. On the face this works extremely well for the broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks. On the legs it suits fine surface vessels.

Larger leg veins, and any vein associated with aching, swelling or skin change, may indicate underlying venous insufficiency. That is a vascular problem rather than a cosmetic one, and treating the surface without addressing it produces disappointing and short lived results. We assess for that and refer where it is warranted.

What it treats

What Vein Treatment
treats well.

And a few things they do not. If your concern is not here, the consultation is where we work out what would actually help.

Concerns treated by vein treatment in MississaugaLaser and Energy
  1. Facial capillaries

Broken vessels around the nose and cheeks, which respond very well and often in a single session.

  2. Spider veins on the legs

Fine surface vessels, treatable when the underlying circulation is normal.

  3. Cherry angiomas

Small raised red spots that clear readily.

  4. Redness around the nostrils

A common and easily treated pattern.

  5. Veins after a previous procedure

    Residual vessels, assessed individually.

S&C

How it works

How Vein Treatment works
at Skin&Co.

Four steps, in this order. Nothing is treated until it has been assessed, and nothing is repeated until it has been reviewed.

Vein Treatment in Mississauga, step 1: assessment
01

Assessment

A physician examines the pattern and asks about symptoms. This determines whether laser is appropriate or whether a vascular referral comes first.

Results

Vein Treatment results,
and when to expect them.

Vein Treatment being carried out at Skin&Co, Mississauga
Assessed before it is treated. Some veins need a vascular opinion, not a laser.
Day 0

Session day

Redness along the treated vessels, sometimes with bruising, particularly on the legs. Compression may be advised for leg treatment.

Week 1

Settling

Bruising fades. Treated vessels may look darker before they disappear, which is normal.

Week 2 to 8

Vessels clear

The body absorbs the closed vessels gradually. This is the slowest visible result of any laser we offer.

Ongoing

Further sessions

New vessels can form over time, particularly on the face with rosacea. Occasional maintenance is common.

When we say no

When we decline
Vein Treatment.

We do not treat in these situations, and we will say so in the consultation, which you are not charged for.

  • Leg veins with aching, swelling or skin change, until a vascular assessment has happened. Treating the surface would be the wrong order.
  • Large varicose veins, which need a vascular specialist rather than a cosmetic laser.
  • A history of blood clots, until it has been properly discussed.
  • Recent sun exposure or an active tan.
  • Pregnancy, when many leg veins resolve on their own afterwards anyway.
  • Anyone expecting one session to clear extensive leg vessels. It will not, and we would rather set that expectation now.

Questions

Vein Treatment
questions, answered.

Discussing Vein Treatment at a Skin&Co consultation in Mississauga
Do leg veins come back?

Treated vessels do not return, but new ones can form, particularly where there is an underlying circulatory cause. That is why the initial assessment matters.

How many Vein Treatment sessions will I need?

Facial vessels often clear in one or two. Leg vessels typically need two to four and are slower to respond.

Does Vein Treatment hurt?

A brief snap per pulse with cooling. Legs are more uncomfortable than the face but still well tolerated.

Will I bruise after Vein Treatment?

Frequently on the legs, less often on the face. It resolves within a week or so.

Should I see a vascular specialist instead?

If you have aching, swelling, skin changes or prominent bulging veins, yes, and we will tell you that rather than treat the surface.

How soon will I see results?

Two to eight weeks. Vessels clear as the body absorbs them, which is a gradual process.
